new foster kittens

Last Friday there was a plea posted on Facebook by the New Rochelle Humane Society asking for someone to foster a special kitten. I couldn’t get in touch with them fast enough.

Meet Greta.

She is recovering from being thrown out a window and a kind person brought them to the shelter. Her shoulder is broken and she’s in a cast for a few weeks and needs some extra love and snuggles. Greta’s brother, Hans, was also thrown, he suffered from a slight limp for a few days. They are two of the sweetest kittens I have had the honour of fostering. Within an hour of bringing them home they were both curled up on my lap. They love giving me kisses in exchange for cuddles. When they purr? My heart melts. Greta hasn’t let the cast stop her from figuring out how to get around and do what she needs to. I was surprised to find her up on the shelf! On Wednesday Greta went for a checkup and Hans was very lonely, so I brought him to my office and he napped on my lap for several hours.

If you can help support Greta’s medical care, I would very much appreciate it. While her expenses aren’t as high as they could be, they aren’t free. Information about donation options can be found on the New Rochelle Humane Society‘s website. Thank you.

three little kittens

The three little foster kittens returned to New Rochelle Humane Society last night to await their forever homes. They’ve come a long way from hiding between and behind boxes to curling up on my lap for petting and lots and lots of purring. They are very ready to find their forever homes and I hope they do not need to wait long.

If you are interested in adopting any of my foster kittens or any of the other animals available at New Rochelle Humane Society, please contact them directly.

We are still hosting Maddie and Cassie while we wait for Maddie to heal completely. They have the run of the house and are enjoying the ability to stretch their growing legs. They haven’t yet figured out all the cat doors so there are still quiet spaces for Shadow and Buddy to nap in peace without someone pouncing on a twitching tail.

Maddie & Cassie are ready!

Maddie and Cassie are very ready to find their forever homes! They’ve helped me with work & laundry this week as we wait for an opening at the New Rochelle Humane Society.

foster season!

Kitten season started a bit late this year. I picked up my first foster kittens from New Rochelle Humane Society on Monday. These two little girls need socialization skills and are slowly learning how nice peoples can be. They are quick learners, by Tuesday afternoon, one of them fell asleep on me!

Shadow and Buddy don’t mind the tiny house guests. The sun room is kitten free, quiet, warm, and makes for wonderful naps.

love and snuggles

I love that Shadow and Buddy still adore each other. Every night Buddy looks for Shadow for his bath and they both purr the entire time.

2014-12-05-bertiesnugglesThis morning Bertie returns to the New Rochelle Humane Society to await his forever home. He loves to explore heights and watch for a while before coming for snuggles, but he loves to be petted and have his chin scratched and his belly rubbed. He loves to chase balls and try to do everything Buddy or Shadow does. He likes me, but I am not his human. He snuggles E more and climbs into his lap for long snuggle and purring sessions, though we know E isn’t his human either. Good luck Bertie we know you’ll find your perfect match soon!

NRHS-givingtuesdayNew Rochelle Humane Society is doing two special campaigns this month. First, on givingtuesday they launched a campaign to fund their Silver Whiskers Program. There has been an increase in older pets coming to NRHS, and they deserve a loving home. The Silver Whiskers Program matches senior pets and other animals with medical issues with viable adopters. Pets in this program are offered basic supportive medical care through New Rochelle Humane Society, while they live out their lives in new adoptive homes. Please help support this program, all pets young and old deserve a home. The second campaign is to help the pets who have been waiting for some time to find their forever homes this December. Any pet staying at the shelter for over 4 months or any pet that is aged 7 years and older can be adopted for a reduced fee. Each day on their Facebook page NRHS features a special pet. Yesterday, Stanley, an affectionate cat was in the spotlight, can you fill his lonely heart?
