In the before times, about six or seven years ago, I used to post morning coffee and planner spreads to instagram and my site regularly. I needed the accountability to plan my days and to review. I was quite good at the drinking coffee (or tea) part. Wednesday morning I decided on a whim to post part of this spread, and it received such love that I decided to expand it for today’s post with the full week through Friday morning.
This picture is of my desk right now. In a few moments those log notebooks will be opened, but otherwise what you see is what I see: open plan book, stack of log books with pens and watercolor palette balanced on top, micro papergram stamps, stamp pad, my cat sketch mug (the coffee’s gone cold), and my go-everywhere notebook open to this week’s very doodled planner page.

I’ve been working through this idea across my different spaces for the past few months. There’s from messy to useful at PSG Studio, and over at little acorn creations I keep coming back to starting where you actually are in students teach clarity and stitches in the moment.
Pausing for Shabbat and doing my weekly review go together. In our always-on world, both are challenging. It’s so tempting to just keep pushing forward, but pausing gives me time to review and understand where I am, both in my work and in myself. But they are what keep me sane and grounded and ultimately provide the respite I need to begin again. My work is rarely perfect, or Instagram-worthy, but I’m trying to branch out to show more of the messy realness. And how if you wait for perfect it will likely never come. This is life. Enjoy what you have in the moments you have.
