to hold summer
The moment I look forward to each year occurred earlier this week. I held summer in the palm of my hand.

There were a few canes of raspberries planted in the backyard of my childhood home. Each summer, my task was to watch, wait, and in time harvest. I’ll be honest–it was a rare afternoon if more than 3 made it the 50 feet or so back into the house.
Standing with my toes wiggling in soft warm grass, the sun beating down on my head, and berries sweet and tart on my tongue–for me that is the joy of summer.
Savor the moments that bring you joy and peace. The world is extra stressful and challenging right now. Please mask mindfully, get vaccinated, and be kind to others.
