fibre shift

A second trend I’ve noticed in my stash is a shift from wool (specifically merino) to camelid fibres. I currently have approximately 6399 metres of commercially produced yarn in my stash. For those not up on metric that’s just a hair under 4 miles. Some of that can be found as newly released yarns, and much of it was stashed from generous gifts over the years.

Want to learn more? The Winter 2009 issue of Interweave Knits has a nice article from Abby Franquemont.

There is much more about these fibres and yarns I’d love to write, however, I haven’t yet perfected research or typing with a kitten asleep on my arm and lap.

To be continued next week…
