Quite a while ago, I read The Fire Rose by Mercedes Lackey and I enjoyed it greatly. I struggled to find the next book in the series. As many other books exist that I want to read, I didn’t rush to follow through on reading the entire set of books. That changed last week.
A surprise trip to BPL last Tuesday (I know, after I said I rarely go there) left me happy to see it on the shelf so I borrowed it as a reward — an even sweeter one when I successfully crossed Grand Army Plaza, twice!
This is an enjoyable Lackey read. Gah. My words aren’t coming out well. I enjoyed it for the strong women, the locales, and a bit of cheese with my fairy tale thrown in for a fun escape. I do recommend it. Check out the proper reviews and summaries for more on this one if you are curious. I have requested the third book, The Gates of Sleep, though hopefully it won’t be ready until after I finish with a rush of work coming due.
