officially summer of anne mccaffrey
I completed The Rowan series over shabbos by reading Damia’s Children, Lyon’s Pride and The Tower and the Hive. I’m really sad to have finished the series. I enjoyed it greatly and don’t know what to say other than, please go read them. They go quick. There was one detail to the story line which bothered me a little but I won’t mention it as there were soo many other parts which I really really enjoyed.
I don’t have much else to say except that my local-to-the-office branch of the nypl just did some major shifting and reshelving of books and that means that all the paperback sci fi books can now be shelved! (As opposed to on shelving carts). This means that they are more or less sorted alphabetically, which makes it much more pleasant to go stash building. I picked up three more on my way home this afternoon: The Crystal Singer, Freedom’s Landing, and Powers that Be.
On Friday I picked up the Vogue Knitting 25th Anniversary Book. Honestly I am waiting for the sock book but I found this for a nice deal at Strand and couldn’t pass it up. I’m only about halfway through right now but it is marvelous and I’m happy I bought it. I don’t have the historical magazine collection many might and I’m not about to go buy all those back issues (if they fall in my lap, that is another story).
Now that I’ve knocked off these posts I can work on lots of other languishing projects. Laundry is done and folded. Yay!

Anne McCaffery is great! My daughter is working her way through the Pern series and I am rereading them along with her. I’m holding off introducing her to the Powers that Be series because they are a little more “adult.”
My Mom loves Anne McCaffery. I found quite a few books for her at a local used bookstore at Christmas. Someday I’ll actually try reading one myself! :)
