knit: charity blanket swap, stash, found!

estimated 3 min read

Ok, first off, my response to the questionnaire for the swap is at the end. :) Note to Sara: the rules to our previous agreement still apply to this swap.. NO PURCHASING ANYTHING. (sorry to yell, she’s all the way out in Eugene, I had to make sure she heard me)

I’m still happy I found the shawl. I am impatiently waiting for Tuesday evening to work on it. It’s mum’s birthday present (mid september), holiday present, and mother’s day all rolled into one. *sigh*

I’m a week late with this, but anyway…

Last night I asked my stash last night if it wanted to come out and play. Most of it behaved itself. The sock yarns were good, some of the others weren’t and stayed in the bins. Kitchen cotton has a horrid practical joke streak!

First up are the sock yarns, including some koigu, some patons, some bernat, lavendersheep (yay!), some regia, some misc, and a fleece artist.

Next come the others who said they’d play nice, of course some lavendersheep did. Some cotton, and a bit of lace.

Lastly, my scale, my library (some crochet cotton in there), (you’ve seen the swift and ball winder), and uhm.. the bins.

Ok, Questions:

> What are your Favorite Colors?
Grey. splashes of maroon or purple. Browns. NOT crayon yellow, though I’m open to earthy tones.

> Do you prefer Solid or Multi Colored Yarns?
It depends totally on the yarn. I don’t like rainbows per se but …

> What fibers do you prefer? Any Allergies?
I prefer things I won’t easily felt b/c I will wash EVERYTHING. Sometimes wool makes me scratchy but not often.

> What do you enjoy knitting the most? (socks, mittens, sweaters, etc.)
I’m on a lace kick. I love socks but I need more time to finish them.

> What are your favorite yarns?
I’m still a newbie. I love hand-dyed or hand-spun .. I like supporting artists and those who love what they do.

> What do you enjoy doing outside of knitting?
Reading. Obsessively.

> Favorite foods or candies?
Popcorn. Rice. Kosher sour grapefruit candies (like sour patch kid things..)

> Art or Music you enjoy?
I’m a music girl.. Anything with a bassoon .. Mahler .. Tchaikovsky .. Stravinsky ..

> What inspires you?
Everything.

> Anything else you want to share?
I wish I had more time to helping others. Teaching. Learning. It’s a symbiotic relationship.

  1. Wow! You have some really nice stuff there. The lavendersheep is especially pretty.

  2. And, now, mwahaha, I may plot! (gorgeous stash, too, btw…)

  3. You have a very nice stash! I’m not brave enough to flash mine. Does undyed yarn count as stash?
