a new family member & a little bit of reading…
Yesterday I finally wore E down, we became the proud new parents of another Billy bookcase. This one is in place of my nightstand, dimensions are 14¾" × 41¾" in birch. Problem?
It’s full.
It needs another shelf, which should help a little, but I’m eyeing the height extension units for it and the one bought 6 months ago. I’m trying to convince E that we should replace the 42" tall cabinet-type things that are in the living room with more bookcases (several at 79½" sound right, even though they are difficult to fit in the car).
He told me to visit the library more often. As if I needed an excuse.
I finished Black Powder War by Naomi Novik (365 pages) this weekend. I am very impatiently waiting for Naomi to write more. The “teaser” which she includes at the end of BPW is very tortourous. I’m happy I’ll soon have classes to distract me from the waiting.
My SRP ’06 total (by my imperfect count) stands at 12,143 pages over 38 books. Whew. I don’t think I’ll finish any of my other goals (finish Small Changes, Harry Potter (en français), or finish Shogun (my > 500 page stash book)) but I’m having fun. :)
Tonight I hope to finally wrestle all of the pictures off of my camera and look into posting a few.

So how do you like Billy bookcases? We’ve been eyeing them for a while (the key feature being the available doors, to keep books on and kidlings off of the bottom shelves.
