book dragon

I haven’t finished that much in the past two weeks, but have acquired (hoarded) more books than I really care to admit. I need a spell to make more bookshelf space. I have taken over half of the dining table and the entire coffee table. Not all are books, but much of it.

Completed:
Winds of Fury by Mercedes Lackey (432 pages)
Winds of Fury is the conclusion to the Mage Winds Trilogy. As with all of the series, I loved it. Elspeth returns to Valdemar with some friends and her newly recognized and trained skills and they work to protect Valdemar from Ancar, at all costs.

By the Sword by Mercedes Lackey (492 pages)
Earlier I had “skipped” this wonderful story of how Kerowyn was chosen by Companion Sayvel. I’m happy I didn’t have to wait too long to read it. It’s a wonderful and empowering story.

Throne of Jade by Naomi Novik (398 pages)
Naomi is amazing. Throne of Jade continues marveoulsy where His Majesty’s Dragon left off. I really suggest if you enjoy dragons, the Napoleonic era, and/or historical/alternative fiction I urge you to give this series a try. I look forward to reading more of Naomi’s work.

Acquired:
Two books in Tokyo. Simple Stitch Life, ISBN 4-579-11103-6 and a small slim volume of ????? (Amigurumi) from Ondori, ISBN 4-277-49039-5. It really wasn’t the volume I wanted, but E confused me with conversion rates and I just gave up and bought these two volumes, then came home and did the math and cried. ;)

Purchases in the States were: Throne of Jade and Black Powder War of Naomi’s Temeraire series while “stuck” at LAX (Naomi I was very excited to see several copies of the entire series there!). And the last acquisitions of the week were four books from Strand yesterday (two are for school) …

I hope E’s day gets better, it’s 7am and he’s been on the phone with the office for an hour…
