long awaited book post

First, I have received word that the style sheet isn’t loading properly. Please trying forcing a refresh and be patient. I’m looking into it.

Books. Where to start? I’ve been doing lots of reading, but haven’t finished much recently because I’ve been doing a bit of everything and working towards finishing other projects.

Also, I just updated my book plugin to the version 4 beta. It’s awesome but I haven’t turned on half of the features yet. It’ll take a few days, I want to do some template revisions while I’m at it.

However, I read Spindle’s End by Robin McKinley. I picked it up because it seemed large enough to read over a few days and it had spindles (& spinning) .. or so I thought. Ok. I had never heard of this series of books with rewritten fairy tales. How WONDERFUL! I loved it. And while there wasn’t as much spinning content as I thought, I got hooked (spun?) I’m looking for her other works. That library isn’t cooperating with me. (Don’t get me started)

If you look over at the sidebar you will see the haul of spinning books I took out from the library this afternoon. I have some cup hooks and a top or two and several dowels and now all i need is something to spin. I wonder if I can find anything around here … I know that seaport yarn apparently offers but I have thus far avoided their shop .. I’ve overspent my yarn budget for the year already so I have to figure out a way to make it work. Let’s just say at the moment I’m knitting up lots of acrylic in an effort to “template” until I can get nicer stuff. You see if it’s a bag, I have to *USE* it to see if I like it (if it works for me). Why not knit up cheap stuff first? *sigh* I just wish I knit faster.

Current plan is to have a schedule for posting various topics. We’ll see if I stick to it or if the posts end up more polished (hah! as if).

Monday will be book day.

  1. If you can’t tell, I’m going through all your “book” posts. :) So did you read any other Robin McKinley books? Beauty is one I could read over and over and over again, as well as Sunshine (not fairy tale). I like her second “Beauty and the Beast” retelling, Rose Daughter, although it’s quite different…
