recent reads: Last Herald Mage Series, SOCK^3, One Skein, and Knitting Patterns

I finished Mercedes Lackey’s Last Herald Mage Series and am itching to get back to the library. Magic’s Pawn, Magic’s Promise, and Magic’s Price. A wonderful series and I look forward to reading more of the Valdemar series. (Quick, Matt (or anyone else, A? S? M?) what should I read next (after all of Valdemar)? [ignore the scary big tower of books in the corner please].

Socks Socks Socks by XRX is nice, but not something I would have purchased, I only care for about 4-5 of the patterns. They have a nice sock tutorial (honestly I prefer Ann Budd‘s, but that’s me) and this is where I found some lace patterns I’m going to try for some other little projects. The book is laid out quite nice.

I also have “read” Ann Budd’s The Knitter’s Handy Book of Patterns: Basic Designs in Multiple Sizes & Gauges. I think that this is a must own next to EZ’s books. I will return it to the library shortly and be thankful I crossed paths now. It was exactly what I was looking for. I’m also looking for a simple pretty cardigan pattern… much like The Everyday Cardigan but uhm … I spent enough recently on yarn and needles, I can’t buy any more patterns or books.

I took out One Skein by Leigh Radford today. I’m happy that I bought EZ’s book instead of this that fateful day at border’s. This is a cute book but not really for me. I also don’t think I would like for anyone to purchase this for me. I think that there are many other books that would be more worth their while.

Lastly, my book plugin seems to have gone crazy again. I’m going to try to update from 3.2 to 3.3. I hope I can get it working proper quick. I really really like all the work Rob’s done. It’s great!
