Spin

I own several spindles including a Bosworth Featherweight.

In October of 2007 I became the proud owner of a HitchHiker Spinning Wheel. It sat for a time because I was too busy to figure it out. When I finally had the time to devote to spinning, it developed a horrendous squeak which took me two weeks to figure out. When I did I felt stupid. The wheel was thus named Squeaky to remind me to check the simple. In 2009 I finally took him back to visit Dave at MDSWF and discovered a few things to make my spinning easier. For example: a drop of oil on the bobbin each time you switch will ensure your wheel runs much quieter. While Mr no-longer-Sir-Squeaky and I became friends I never spun him much. My friend Teabird sold me her Bee in December 2010. We are having loads of fun right now.

Summer of Spinning 2009Several years ago, I decided to join Dave in his Summer of Spinning challenge. I continue it now. My goals are simple, to spin for 10 minutes every day, to try to spin up as much of my stash as I can, and to make detailed notes as to what I’m doing. Ravelry has changed my knitting and crochet life and I need to apply some of those lessons (crossed with my love of charts and diaries) to my spinning.

I’ll make a nice proper chart soon, but for now… try this. I try to keep it updated. This is only for 2011. I have data archived from prior years.
