thin
As I’ve spread myself a bit thin to complete some reading, writing, and coding obligations this week, I’ve only managed to finish one book at the time of this post. It’s my own fault as I’ve known about these deadlines for weeks and weeks. I like to procrastinate sometimes.
I, Tituba, Black Witch of Salem
by Maryse Condé

I’m reading quite a few other books most related to course-work, some not.
Last week while attempting not to take home the library, I decided to do something different and picked up both the November and December issues of “Analog” instead. Why? Well, because I’ve been curious. But mostly so I could read Robert J. Sawyer’s novel Wake now, before it’s published in book form next year. I’m only about two chapters in, but it’s interesting so far. I find the format fascinating as it’s been quite some time since I’ve read something like this in a serialized manner. I like it. It will definitely try my patience, but I need those sorts of challenges.
I’ve been trying hard not to purchase books lately. We have no space for them at all. As generously as we are able, we support the libraries I frequent (E buys all of his books). Please don’t think that the book money I could have spent is going to some party fund. At least not /our/ party fund.
But back to Analog. It was something I’d been meaning to do, both read a novel by Sawyer and pick up one of the SFF magazines. I’m a pretty clueless reader sometimes and I don’t know what took me so long to do this. I don’t go to cons, I try not to obsess over when the next volume of a series will be out. I kinda drift throughout the reading world picking up what catches my eye and leaving what doesn’t. I’ve been reading Tor pretty regularly since I added it to my rss reader a few months ago and I believe that’s where Analog and other things kept popping infront of my eyes and so I was determined to try it. I have a backlog of tor articles still to read, so uhm yeah. I’ll get there.
Huh. A search of my rss feeds to provide backup linkage has resulted in realizing that I have no idea any more how I pieced together that Analog was serializing Robert J Sawyer’s Wake in the November through er.. April? issues.
My writing is going in fits and starts. Fiction (of the semi fantasy variety) seems to ooze out of my fingers these days, but that probably is because I have a need to finish some course writing and finish some long over due code.
on this day...
