Oh, forgot to mention Dare Wright's Edith The Doll series. What a depressing set of stories! Beautiful photography, though.

I loved my Nancy Drew books, which scared me a little bit, and later, Stephen King, which scared me a lotta bit. I also loved the Earth's Children series (Clan of the Cave Bear, etc.), and Judy Blume (I'm *old*).

One of my favorites was the English-translation of Erich Kaestner's "Lisa and Lotte." It was the inspiration for Disney's "The Parent Trap." I found a random copy in my elementary school library in the second grade. I can't find a copy of my own as of yet.
I too was a fan of The Secret Garden, Anne of Green Gables, and I wore out my Laura Ingalls Wilder books. I also loved Roald Dahl's Matilda.Oh, and anything by Beverly Cleary and later Judy Blume. Sigh. I love books.

I would also add The Lord of the Rings series, though technically I read them in college.

Have you read The Blue Castle, by L M Montgomery? It is one of my favorite that she wrote. Well, I like everything that she has written, but The Blue Castle is often overlooked, so I thought I would mention it.

Did you know that Laura daughter Rose's life was written into children's books as well? Authored by her honorary grandson, um, um, Roger MacBride. I liked those more than the "previous generation" series-es which were loosely based on older family papers, but more historical fiction; Laura's mom, gransmother, maybe a 3rd generation back.

Tzvi and I tore through the 8 Rose books, enjoying every one when he was probably about 8.
